Bone Deep Contest Entry
I entered Bone Deep in the Romance Junkies contest back in June and just got some feedback comments on it. I’ve listed all of them here. (for more info on the contest, see: http://www.contestjunkies.com/index.html
“Got into the story and wanted to know what happened next. Great job!”
“I liked that I could identify with the heroine who was both tender hearted and strong. Kevin is still a bit of a mystery at this point.”
“This sounds interesting.”
“I was immediately empathetic with Hailey; haven't we all been there at some time? The story is one I will look forward to, it being realistic with a character I warmed up to right away.”
“Sounds very good!”
“I think Kevin is sweet guy. Love how he uses his suit jacket to wipe off the mud. And the kiss...*sigh*. I'll be interest to read what happens next :)”
“Good start. Might want to make it that she had experience a little attraction to him earlier. Especially since he was the co-pilot and no doubt she'd seen a lot of him. This might make her actions more authentic. Also you might want to speed up the backstory. Good luck in the competition.” (Summer’s note: I do go into this very thing…but I was only allowed to post so much! LOL)
“This sound really good can't wait for more.”
“Good. I enjoyed it.”

Hailey shook her head. "Kevin, I'm sorry about earlier. You know what happened between David and me, I guess. You caught me in a weak moment. I should not have done that. Can we just please forget it ever happened?"
"Can you forget it? I have another idea." He closed the distance between them until his knees touched the front bumper. He rested his hands on the hood beside her hips, his lips inches from hers.
She leaned back, resting her body on both hands. "Kevin
"
He nodded, letting his eyes roam over her features. "I don't hear no."
The rain fell harder than it had earlier, but she seemed not to notice it at all as she stared at him. He put his hands over hers and moved even closer.
"Kevin," she said, her breath on his face. "Really, I
"
"That's not no either, Hailey." He moved even closer and put his hand on her neck, letting his thumb stroke her cheek.
She glanced down at her handbag then back into his eyes. "You've ruined your suit. That's about the nicest thing anybody has ever done for me."
"That kiss was quite a thank you," he said, forcing himself to concentrate on completing his plan. But this moment was surreal; if he didn't know better, he'd let himself fall for this woman. She was dangerous.
"I did want to thank you," she said.
"Thank me again."
